“Celebrity Ventriloquist” may be an unusual profession to which to aspire, but Pete Michaels has earned the title — and is loving every minute of it.

The Staten Island native’s sweeping career spans decades and includes live appearances at major comedy clubs, casinos and theaters around the country. His TV stints include Comedy Central, “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” “Showtime at The Apollo” and many more.

He has taught ventriloquism to Adrien Brody, Judith Roberts and Russy Simmons for the major motion pictures “Dummy,” “Dead Silence” and MTV’s hit show “Run’s House.”

Michaels was honored at the 2010 International Ventriloquist Convention with the W.S. Berger Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Art of Ventriloquism, and appears (alongside three members of his eight-puppet posse) in the band MGMT’s video for their hit “Flash Delirium.” The video was nominated for Best Rock Video at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. He also makes a cameo appearance in fellow comic Tom Papa’s (“The Marriage Ref”) upcoming Comedy Central special.

Why not check out Michaels’ next gig, Saturday at 9 p.m. at The Looney Bin Comedy Club, located at 141 East Service Road, Travis.
