"Yo, a tree grew in Brooklyn!", is how Buddy describes his roots in his thick New Yawk accent.
Buddy was "born" out of necessity. At the height of Woody D.'s popularity, Pete's former agent told him that "Due to the O.J. and Rodney King incidents, it might be a good idea to have a White puppet."
So Pete took the back-up
copy of Woody D. and painted him Caucasian. Not long after that, the agent gave
up on the act altogether. Agents.... go figure.
By then, Buddy had already replaced Woody D. as the main character in Pete's act and got some airplay of his own.
He has appeared with Pete on: Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Pork (On the America's Talking Network,) A commercial for NBA.com, Canada's- Comedy At Club 54, and in the feature film Dummy- Starring Oscar winner Adrien Brody.
The ever sharp-tongued side-kick says he loves show business. "Pete
picks me up, takes me to the shows, I get all the laffs and the women!
What's not to love?"
Ever the ladies man, he scans the audience at each show in search of a potential companion, who usually finds herself the object of his public affections. So, does he have a girlfriend? "One in every town, pal! Listen, show me a guy who won't, and I'll show you a Buddy who will!"
When not on stage, Buddy can be found in his native Brooklyn, NY. Usually at Nathan's on Coney Island for some hot dogs after riding the Cyclone!
